India will soon mandate that all new air conditioners have a minimum temperature setting of 20 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 28 degrees. Power Minister Manohar Lal anticipates this move will save consumers ₹18,000-20,000 crore in three years by improving cooling efficiency and reducing power demand.
