In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, all poultry shops are closed for 21 days after avian influenza strains H5N1 and H9N2 were detected in bird samples from five city localities. Following confirmation from NIHSAD Bhopal, culling operations began within a 1km radius of infected zones.
