Gujarat government promoted retired SP and “encounter specialist” NK Amin to DIG on January 21, following his legal exoneration. Amin, previously imprisoned for eight years over the Ishrat Jahan and Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter cases, was cleared by CBI courts and departmental inquiries, paving the way for his promotion eight years after retirement.
