The Calcutta High Court has ruled that expecting an educated, earning wife to contribute to household expenses does not constitute cruelty under IPC Section 498A. Justice Ajay Kumar Gupta quashed criminal proceedings against a GSI employee and his parents, stating that mutual responsibility is inherent in marriage.
