India has proposed a dedicated multilateral fund for a legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, modeled after the Montreal Protocol. The fund will provide grant-based financial and technical assistance, including technology transfer, to developing countries for transitioning to eco-friendly technologies. A subsidiary body with equal representation from developed and developing countries will oversee the fund’s operations.
