Following the tragic murder of a tourist, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma has announced enhanced security measures, including a real-time distress response system via a tourism app and a ‘tourist buddy’ scheme. The state is also enforcing carrying capacity norms and developing new tourism circuits to boost visitor experience.
