The NHRC has taken cognizance of a complaint concerning a township project near Karjat, Mumbai, allegedly designed exclusively for one religion under the guise of a ‘Halal Lifestyle Township.’ A notice has been issued to Maharashtra’s chief secretary to investigate the allegations of communal segregation and potential constitutional violations, demanding a report within two weeks.
